Alien Registration

Foreigners staying in Japan for more than 90 days are required to register as resident aliens. Applications for alien registration can be conducted at Hitachinaka City Hall or Nakaminato Branch office.
After registering as an alien, you will receive a registration card.You must carry this card on your person at all times while in Japan.

Initial registration

(Registration for the first time)

Application period: Within 90 days of arriving in Japan

Items required :
Application for Alien Registration (This form is provided at City Hall.)
Passport
Two photographs (4.5cm*3.5cm, taken within the last 6 months)
*Your Certificate of Alien registration will be ready to pick up approximately two weeks after the date of application.
